Introduction

Trivandrum is the capital of the Indian states of Kerala and the headquarters of the Thiruvananthapuram district. It is located on the west coast of India near the extreme south of the mainland. How to Reach

By Road: The Intra-city public transport in the city is dominated by the state-owned KSRTC, though there are significant numbers of private buses plying within the city limits.

By Train: Trivandrum comes under the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. There are five railway stations within the city limits including the Trivandrum entral station.  Trivandrum Pettaah, Kochiveli and Veli stations are located towards north direction and Trivandrum Nemom is located in south direction from the central station. The Central railway Station is located at Thampanoor in the heart of the city and is about 5 km.

By Air : Trivandrum have two airports. One is Domestic Airport and another one International Airport. International Airport has diect connectivity to the Middle East, Singapore, Maldives and Sri Lanka and is gateway to the tourism rich state of Kerala.

Padmanabhaswami Temple

SreePadmanabhaswamy dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Thiruvananthapuram, India. The temple is one of 108 DivyaDesams (Holy Abodes of Vishnu) – principal centers of worship of the deity in Vaishnavism. The principal deity, Padmanabhaswamy, is enshrined in the "Anantha-sayanam" posture. In the sanctum sanctorum, Sri Padmanabha reclines on the serpent Anantha or AdiSesha

Neyyar Dam

The Dam is located across the Neyyar River flowing south of Trivandrum. Lying amidst the Sothern low hills of the Western Ghats, 29 km from the city, the catchment area offers facilities for boating and mountaineering. A three hour climb over the hill across the reservoir affords the thrill of hiking, there are two beautiful waterfalls on the way. A lion safari park and a Crocodile Rearing Centre have also been set up in the reservoir. Also on the lake vines the Sivanandan Yoga Vedanta Dhabawantri Ashram.

Ponmudi Hill Station

A pleasant Hill with an elevation of 912 m above sea Level, Ponmudi is reached by road from Trivandrum. There are several tea and rubber estates around the hills. A hill tribe called Kani live in the surrounding areas. Ponmudi is fast developing as a hill resort with room and dormitory accommodation facilities, hill-trails for hiking, a collection of flowering trees and a deer park. Ponmudi is 64 km from Trivandrum City.

Samudhra Beach
